Part Glockenspiel, part 1950s truck stop waitress , part undersea “Clam Divertissement”, Jr. is innocent, simple, but also slightly warped and full of tiny detail. The carnival atmosphere and aesthetic are mirrored in Nikolai Kapustin’s virtuosic composition for solo piano.

Premiere: January 27, 2012
Millennium Stage, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Washington, DC

Jr. was commissioned by the Long Island University Dance Department.
