World Premiere of The Principles of Uncertainty

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival
The long-awaited world premiere of John's collaboration with acclaimed author and illustrator Maira Kalman. Inspired by Maira's written and visual art, The Principles of Uncertainty, is an evening-length dance-theatre work which explores life, death, and everything in between. Featuring John's choreography, set, prop, and projection design by Maira, and music curated, composed, and arranged by Colin Jacobsen, and performed live by Members of The Knights. Tickets on sale to the general public April 3, 2017.
The Principles of Uncertainty was co-commissioned by the Pillow and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and was created during residencies at The Banff Centre, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts. Additional support for the creation and touring of The Principles of Uncertainty provided in part by the Howard Gilman Foundation, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation.
The Principles of Uncertainty is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
